Taupo - 12.12.-15.12.

Huka Falls - 12.12.2012

On the 12th of December i left Rotorua and continued my journey to lake Taupo.
On the way to lake Taupo we stopped at the "Huka Falls"... At least i thought the name of the waterfall was "Huka Falls".

After our short stop at the waterfall, we finally arrived at lake Taupo. Lake Taupo is the largest lake in New Zealand. The lake is so special, because it is the "Kaldera" of an old volcano :).
For my stay at lake taupo i had planned since a long time that i wanted to do a skydive at this like,
but the weather conditions weren*t perfect on the day we arrived, because it was raining and there too many clouds. So i decided to wait 2 more days in order to make the skydive with nicer weather.

Hot Pools Lake Taupo - 13.12.2012

Because i had to wait 2 days for the skydive, i went for a walk along the river which flows into the lake, to the hot pools. I started my walk at lake, where i saw some nice black swans :) .

Then as i said, i walked along the river for maybe 30-45 minutes. The river looked really beautiful. You can go kayaking/canoeing on the river as far as i know, which is probably lots of fun, but i didn*t do it that day.
After my walk along the river i finally reached the hot pools which are so to say hot volcanic pools which flow into the river. At the point where they flow into the river you can go swimming because the cold river water mixes with the water from the hot pools so its nice and warm :).

Skydive at lake Taupo - 14th December 2012

On the 14th of December i did a sky dive at lake Taupo in New Zealand. At about quarter to 11 in the morning a limousine picked me up from my hostel. After the pick up I was given some small safety instructions. Then they led  me to the plane. I was sitting in the front of the plane, which was cool, because that way I could see how the pilot started the plane. After about 15 minutes in the air we had reached our hight of 15 thousand  feet. At this point we had to jump. Right after the jump there was a free fall for about a minute I guess, which actually felt like just a few seconds. During the free fall lots of cold air was pressed into my face, although I was wearing a protection for my eyes the pressure was so strong that I found it hard to keep my eyes open. I think the feeling you have during and after the jump is hard to describe, and maybe it feels different for everyone. So if you want to know how it feels, you probably have to jump yourself :) .
