Kaikoura - 16.01.2013 - 20.01.2013

On the 16th of January i arrived in Kaikoura with the Stray bus. The driver first brought us to the top of a small mountain, where we had a very nice view over the peninsula of Kaikoura.

the south bay of Kaikoura.

After this small trip to the viewing platform our bus driver dropped me at my hostel, which i had booked for the next few days because i wanted to go swimming with dolphins in Kaikoura. After my arrival i met two nice girls who went for a small walk with me along the coast of Kaikoura.
We walked towards the village, which is really small and really has only maybe some 20 houses.
On the way to this village we walked on a way were they had bones of wales set up as some kind of gate.
In the past wales were hunted in Kaikoura. Today they don*t hunt them anymore , but offer boattrips to watch them. I suppose the bones are relicts from the old times.
